Adelphi was granted university status by the State Board of Regents on April 26, 1963. By the time Adelphi became a university, the Garden City campus had expanded from three to thirteen buildings, the faculty had increased from thirty-six to two hundred and nine and enrollment rose from three hundred and fifty women to a
total of 6,809 students.
