Dear Tim,
I have your favor of the 24th - I am much pleased that you approve of Dorothy's trip to Europe - It will not be an expensive one. Dorothy has such a fine mind - & does so well what ever she undertakes. that I am willing to do everything in my power to develop & educate her. Mrs Royal, her singig teacher says, there is not another voice like hers in N.Y. & that she made great progress last winter. She expects to be home Sept 1/15. I am glad John & you had such a good time in the woods. & that Genie is making progress. I note what you say about the tax. I would rather have a cooperation, net easing tax of 2 % - which would cost us $2000 - $2500 - that a stamp tax of 2 1/2 cent per bottle which would cost us $15000 per year, as it did during the Spanish War - We can tide you over till July 15" - up to $5000 - Farnham comes to the office daily for an hour or so - The doctor is satisfied with the progress of his eye -
Hope you have the time of your life at New Haven - What do you call the thirtieth celebration?
Rodney will be in the class of 1915. He passed & so did Woodruff, their examinations at school. & Rodney's crew won the boat-race. Rodney was coxswain My love to Isabel - We are all well - I go to N. H. tomorrow noon.
Very Sincerely Yours
Rodney A. Ward
