My dear Reny:
I have your letter of June 10th in relation to the proposed reduction in tariff on salt. I think it is too late for me to do anything about this matter. If I had known about it sometime ago, I might have been able to accomplish something; but now that they have got the question settled, so far as the House itself is concerned, I do not think I could effect the thing to the slightest extent. I am returning to you the letter from the Onondaga Coarse Salt Association.
