Dear Mrs. Meleney,
It was so very kind of you to think of us and send us such charming evidences of your thought at the beautiful Easter season! You must be very proud of your chorister boys; they make a most charming picture, and I thank you very much indeed for giving me the privilege of sharing in what I know must be your great pleasure in the little group portrayed. I am so glad to have Robert's picture, and hope some day to make the acquaintance of the true original Edmund and Frank. Are they all really singers, or is it a costume only for the very pretty pictorial effect? Will has much delight in his little Easter cherubs, and I send his thanks with mine.
I would have written earlier, but our old town is in a buzz and hence such as it never knew before with the work of preparation for our coming Exposition (from which we hope and expect great things), and what with committee meetings and work for the Women's Department, in addition to all our Kindergarten undertakings, I really have not a minute of time that is not due my boy. He has been a little ailing, but is now better, and but for a bad cold from which my sister is suffering just now we are all quite well, as I hope may be the case with you. I hope Mme. Kraus is in good health. Miss Holmes has gone to the I. K. A. meeting in Chicago, and we are anxious to have her back and hear her news. Our work progresses but slowly as the question of money is so direfully great. We held a "rummage sale" lately and cleared $200 which has cheered us up very much, and we are prepared to make a great effort in the coming connection of our State clubs to increase the member of pupils for next year so we live in hope.
I must thank you also for your Report received not long ago, and read with much interest. With renewed thanks and best wishes I am Very sincerely yours
Maria M. Heyward
