My dear Mrs Meleney,
No better proof could be had of your “ well being” then that you are going to favor the association with one of your helpful “ talks” or “ lecturers”.- I hope, the weather will be fair, to help making things comfortable.- Often I think of you & the deer members of your family. We are- all of us- far too busy;& also- the world seems to be so large- that one cannot meet
& enjoy one- another
[page 2]
To-morrow is Lincoln’s birth-day; and we are going to make it a festive memorial in the Class. Saturday is the day of our Alumni Meeting. I feel greatly disappointed that I cannot be present to enjoy, what you have to say. But - it had been arranged that we would be at the Matinee to enjoy Wagner Opers “[Taunhauser]”. I had hope, that your lecture would come later in the Season. - I am sending the students of my lovely “Class”, - and they will report.-

I am so glad- to know you well & active once more.- Soon I shall be some-what less busy, - & then shall hope to see you.-
February 12 Thanks for your “dear” letter received this- morning, - & the good wishes *& greetings from you & yours contained there in.- My Emma joins me in loving greetings &
