My dear Mrs Meleney.
Your letter without date- has been received. You are very kind to wish to have me on your program for the mothers conference. I should very much like to do so. Mrs. Putnam has asked me to open the discussion at the Training Teachers Conference; but I do not think that there is any necessity to remain throughout the entire session – - -the more so as I have given expression variously as to my desire to attend your session being so much interested in it. I believe I was the first one to start a mothers class in New York in 1872.

I think no one could blame me for wishing to attend the Mothers Conference. The Training Teachers ought all to attend the same! It is a great pity that things have not been thus arranged! Well – it can’t be helped. Anna Harvey will have to take me over as soon as it may seem convenient to slip away. – My dear Miss Meleney– may I not have an answer from you in to regards of my Charleston program? Mr. Irwin Shepard urges to have the program very soon. This program gives me again much work. I wish, that I could have had Mr. Grigg’s; but he declined on account of his previous engagement at Martha’s Vineyard.
I have not been so very well; but I am improving & hope soon to be myself again. Trusting that this may find you & yours happy and well
lovingly yours
Maria Kraus- Boelte
