Dear Friend:
I am trying to secure a promotion to the position of bookkeeper at Rochester State Hospital. Much depends upon my letters of recommendation.
Could you ask Mr Woodruff to write to Dr. E H Howard Supt., Rochester State Hospital recommending me to him for that position?
There is only one other man eligible, a clerk at Elmira and all depends upon what I can do in the line of influence
I trust I am not asking too much of Mr Woodruff and yourself and I promise that if I receive the position I shall fill it with credit.
