My dear Woodruff:
Holt of Lewis county has resigned; he was really dismissed by Superintendent Cahill. What do you think ought to be done about the matter? The salary is in the neighborhood of $3,000. Mr. Hay the paymaster wants the place and I would like to see him get it. He is from Cohoes. The state organization could take his place which pays $2,000. I know nothing of Cahill's plans, but I think he his not made up his mind as to what he intendds to do.
When are you coming out of the woods? I am going to be in Albany until July 29th.
Sincerely yours,
William Baines Jr.
