My dear Governor Woodruff:
I have your letter of the 3rd in re of the matter of the Heirs of William Smith vs. the United States Government, in which you so kindly forward me letter of introduction to Senator Root. I will see Senator Root on Thursday, the 10th, at the Sunday School Parade in Brooklyn. I shall probably lunch with him at the University Club as a guest of Mr. Berri and this will give me an opportunity of taking the matter up with him with the assistance of your kind letter.
